Accepting Submissions for April Art and Lit Showcase

A Walk in Beauty 

Visual artists in all mediums and poets are encouraged to apply to Vanguard Humanities Society’s annual online showcase “A Walk in Beauty”. Inspired by the poem: She Walks in Beauty by George Gordon Lord Byron, this showcase focuses on all that is beautiful. Whether dark or bright beauty is all around us. How do you define the beautiful? Visual art including digital and photography as well as poetry that explores the theme of beauty will be accepted. Deadline for submissions is Friday, April 12, 2024 at midnight EST. International and Domestic individuals may apply. Submit up to 3 visual pieces and 3 poems along with your name and country location to: agantz@vanguard-hs.org.  Artists and poets will be required to pay the nominal fee of $10 to submit to the showcase which help support the mission and programming of Vanguard Humanities Society. Best in show along with second, third, and honorable mentions will receive a digital certificate along with a feature in the monthly Aurore magazine.

3. **Open Exchange of Ideas**: Vanguard Humanities Society is dedicated to promoting an open exchange of ideas and fostering meaningful dialogue among our community members. We encourage submissions that challenge conventional thinking, provoke thought, and inspire intellectual curiosity. While we respect diverse viewpoints, we expect all submissions to adhere to the principles of civility, reason, and constructive engagement.

4. **Humanities-Driven Content**: Submissions should align with the principles and values of the humanities, including disciplines such as literature, history, philosophy, art, and cultural studies. We welcome creative expressions, scholarly inquiries, personal reflections, and analytical essays that explore the complexities of the human experience and contribute to our collective understanding of the world.

5. **Intellectually and Thought-Provoking**: We seek submissions that engage readers intellectually and provoke thoughtful reflection. Whether through artistic expression, critical analysis, or personal narrative, we encourage contributors to challenge assumptions, question norms, and offer fresh insights that stimulate dialogue and inspire curiosity.
